Find an MOT centre near you

Choose a testing station for your vehicle and contact it to arrange your MOT.

How to use the finder

  1. Search a place or garage.

    Enter a town, garage name or the first part of a postcode, such as M1. A postcode search matches the station's postcode; it does not calculate distance from that postcode. Try a wider postcode area or town if there are no matches. You can also browse MOT stations town by town.

  2. Choose your vehicle class.

    Cars (Class 4) is selected to start. Open the class menu to switch to motorcycles, passenger vehicles with 13 or more seats or goods vehicles, or choose All classes to remove the filter. Use the class guide below if you are unsure which applies.

  3. Check the list and map.

    Place and name searches list matching stations alphabetically. Use Near me, with location permission, for the nearest stations ordered by distance within 5, 10 or 25 km; it lists at most 50. These are straight-line distances, not driving routes.

  4. Contact a centre.

    Check the address, vehicle classes and phone number, where supplied. Use the station's map button to see its location, then contact the garage to confirm details and book.

The map shows stations with location coordinates. Keep your text search and class filters in mind when panning. If location permission is unavailable, you can still search by town or postcode.

Booking and comparing MOT centres

The finder helps you choose a station. The garage confirms the rest.

GOV.UK lists a maximum MOT fee of £54.85 for a car with up to eight passenger seats (checked 11 October 2026).

A centre may charge less; other vehicle categories have different limits. Check the current maximum fees and official booking guidance.

Motorwise helps you find a station. Contact the garage directly to check appointment times, the test price and whether it can test your vehicle. The finder does not show live availability or compare garage prices.

Before choosing a centre, confirm its current address, opening hours and any vehicle size restrictions. Ask what is included in the quote and what happens if repairs or a retest are needed. A listing is not a review or a recommendation of the garage.

Where the station details come from

Public DVSA data for England, Scotland and Wales.

  • Public DVSA data

    The finder uses public DVSA MOT station data for England, Scotland and Wales. The official active MOT test station list includes station names, addresses, telephone numbers and the classes tested.

  • DVSA updates the list every three months

    The finder uses the DVSA list published on 30 September 2026. DVSA says it updates the list every three months and that stations may open or close between updates. Motorwise's listings may lag changes to the official list, so confirm details with the centre before travelling. Motorwise is independent of DVSA; inclusion here does not establish a station's current approval status.

  • Great Britain only

    For Northern Ireland, follow the Northern Ireland booking link in GOV.UK's MOT guidance. This finder covers Great Britain.

  • Limits of the listings

    Near me lists at most the nearest 50 stations within the radius you choose. A small number of stations (44 in this list) are placed at the centre of their postcode district rather than at their exact address, and two have no map position, so they are missing from the map and Near me. The class filters cover Classes 1, 2, 4, 5 and 7; Class 3 (three-wheeled vehicles up to 450kg unladen weight) has no filter. To browse every town, use the MOT stations by town pages.
