Message centre displays 'reduced engine performance'. Trouble code stored: P0234.

Cause

Engine control module (ECM) software fault.

Repair

  1. Carry out electrical, mechanical and component tests (as applicable) to eliminate any other possible cause(s).
  2. If no fault(s) found: Re-program engine control module (ECM) with upgraded software.

Tailgate will not release when release switch pressed

Blown central locking system fuse due to internal failure of central locking fuel filler flap motor. Fix: re-program with updated software.

Intermittent failure to start

Multifunction control module software fault.

Instrument panel software fault.

Symptoms

Coolant leak from engine.

Cause

Faulty exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler.

Repair

  1. Carry out electrical, mechanical and component tests (as applicable) to eliminate any other possible cause(s).
  2. If no fault(s) found: Fit new exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler.

Unable to switch off audio unit.

Cause

  2. Dry out and clean centre stop lamp.
  3. Thoroughly clean all mating surfaces.
  4. Apply 3 mm bead of sealant to centre stop lamp weather seal.
  5. Refit centre stop lamp and check operation.

Knocking noise from steering when steering wheel turned

Overview

Remedy
Fit new part

Symptoms

Power steering heavy.

Cause

Power steering fluid contaminated with particles (metallic deposits).

Repair

  1. VIN H000001-H150000: Flush power steering system out with recommended power steering fluid. Ensure all contamination is removed from power steering system to avoid further damage to power steering system components. Renew power steering fluid reservoir. Fit new power steering rack. Bleed power steering system.
  2. VIN H150001-H211570: Flush power steering system out with recommended power steering fluid. Ensure all contamination is removed from power steering system to avoid further damage to power steering system components. Renew power steering fluid reservoir. Confirm fault has been rectified. If fault still present: Check power steering pump pressure using diagnostic equipment. Replace power steering pump if necessary. Confirm fault has been rectified. If fault still present: Fit new power steering rack.
