Cause
Engine control module (ECM) software fault.
Repair
- Carry out electrical, mechanical and component tests (as applicable) to eliminate any other possible cause(s).
- If no fault(s) found: Re-program engine control module (ECM) with upgraded software. Note: To carry out an effective repair a software upgrade will be required - refer to manufacturer.

Excessive noise from auxiliary drive belt when starting engine
Unsatisfactory design of crankshaft pulley. Fix: fit a modified part.

- Fit modified part
Repair steps
- Fit new crankshaft front oil seal. Use special tool: JLR-303-1628.
- Fit modified crankshaft pulley.
- Fit new crankshaft pulley bolts. Tightening torque: 37 Nm + 90 °. Use special tools: JLR-303-1630 & JLR-303-1686.
- Fit new auxiliary drive belt.

- Refit multifunction control module protective cover Ensure correct fitment of protective cover.

Tailgate control module wiring harness incorrectly routed.

- Locate tailgate control module behind LH rear wheel arch lining.
- Check tailgate control module wiring harness for correct routing.
- If tailgate control module wiring harness routing incorrect: Re-route tailgate control module wiring harness.
