Engine control module (ECM) software fault.

Battery discharged after standing overnight

CAN data bus gateway control module does not switch to sleep mode due to software fault. Fix: re-program with updated software.

Overview

Affects: All models, 2014-16.
Remedy: Software update

Symptoms

Clicking noise from load area when ignition switched ON. Low battery voltage warning displayed in instrument panel.

Repair steps

Charge battery if necessary.
Carry out electrical, mechanical and component tests (as applicable) to eliminate any other possible cause(s).
If no fault(s) found: Re-program CAN data bus gateway control module with upgraded software. Note: To carry out an effective repair a software upgrade will be required - refer to manufacturer.

Front interior lamp illuminates by itself

Chafing within front interior lamp assembly causing short circuit. Fix: clean and lubricate.

Overview

Affects: All models.
Remedy: Clean & lubricate

Repair steps

Remove front interior lamp assembly.
Carefully disassemble front interior lamp assembly.
Thoroughly clean electrical contact terminals.
Fit a rubber sleeve to each electrical contact terminal ensuring 2 - 3 mm clearance at base.
Reassemble front interior lamp assembly and refit.

Clicking noise from front suspension when manoeuvring or parking

Contact between front suspension lower arm ball joint and ball joint pinch bolt. Fix: fit a new part.

Repair steps

Remove and discard brake caliper lower bolt.
Mark suspension lower arm ball joint with white paint.
Remove and discard pinch bolt and nut from suspension lower arm ball joint.
Remove suspension lower arm ball joint from front wheel hub.
Turn suspension lower arm ball joint 90 ° and refit.
Fit new pinch bolt and nut for suspension lower arm ball joint.
Fit new brake caliper lower bolt.

Open circuit/high resistance in wiring harness of active suspension system.

Repair

Check active suspension system wiring harness for damage and repair/replace as necessary.

Damage to front shock absorber wiring harness. Fix: use a repair kit.

Overview

Affects: All models with active suspension system.
Remedy: Repair kit

Symptoms

Trouble codes stored in suspension control module fault memory.

Repair steps

Inspect front shock absorber wiring harness for damage.
If damage to shock absorber wiring harness has occurred within 20 mm from base of front shock absorber: Fit new front shock absorber.
If damage to shock absorber wiring harness has occurred after 20 mm from base of front shock absorber: Repair wiring harness using harness repair kit and connectors. Note: Ensure front shock absorber repaired wiring harness total length does not exceed 165 mm.
If necessary, repeat procedure for opposite side.
Erase any stored trouble codes.

Oil leak from transmission

Poor manufacture of transmission oil gallery plate gasket. Fix: fit a modified part.

Overview

Remedy: Fit modified part

Symptoms

Abnormal noise from transmission. Poor gear shifting.

Repair steps

Remove and discard transmission oil gallery plate gasket and retaining bolts.
Thoroughly clean all mating surfaces.
Fit modified transmission oil gallery plate gasket.
Refit transmission oil gallery plate using new retaining bolts. Tightening torque: 10 Nm. Observe correct transmission oil gallery plate retaining bolt tightening sequence.
Top up transmission oil as required.

Transmission oil cooler chafed through against bonnet release cable. Fix: fit a new part.

Remove and discard bonnet release cable retaining clip.
Fit new bonnet release cable retaining clip as shown.
Ensure bonnet release cable fitted correctly.

Cut felt tape to make a strip approximately 3 mm x 15 mm x 55 mm in size.
